Context
Onboarding project marking the start of the BI Analyst program at OpenClassrooms. Objectives: define the training framework, set target defense dates, choose collaboration tools with the mentor, identify key soft skills, and validate understanding of the profession through an initial reflective deliverable. 100% online project with structured mentoring and community.
My role:
- Clarify the program objectives and career direction
- Plan the milestones and target defense dates for each project
- Choose the collaboration tools with the mentor and establish a weekly cadence
Workflow
- Welcome videos: program logistics, roles, resources, importance of preparing mentoring sessions in advance; one weekly session recommended; strong emphasis on personal organization.
- AI for learning: follow the course “Optimize your learning with AI” to structure an effective study workflow.
- Training start form: fill in objectives, review all projects, set target dates, and list time management practices.
- Video on neuroplasticity: reflect on learning strategies.
- Discovering the BI Analyst profession: identify core soft skills and complete the self-assessment using the provided grids.
- Review session with the mentor: validate the clarity of the framework, targets, and tools; record Q&A and adjustments.
- Collaboration via Notion; structured planning and calendar; defined weekly mentoring cadence.
Insights
- Project-by-project and cumulative path: builds a complete portfolio; plan extra time for study and research.
- Personal constraints identified from the start (e.g., formal communication in a non-native language) and mitigated through preparation and structured note-taking.
- Before/after review for acquired skills.
Business Impact
- Implementation of the program with clear objectives, planning, and collaboration methods, reducing ambiguity and downstream risks.
- Established repeatable habits (weekly planning, structured notes, preparation for sessions) for the following projects.
Comparative review: vision of the profession at the beginning VS at the end of the project
